The research described in Chapter 9 - Friction and Lubrication in the Physics of the Pinewood Derby book has resulted in a special high purity graphite that results in a very low coefficient of friction when applied properly as a monomolecular film. A special application cloth, recommended by tribologists (friction experts), is provided for applying Super-Z to the polished axle. Instructions are provided for the axle lubrication procedure.
